Hospice Mid-Northland celebrates 30 years in the Mid North area!

Celebrating 30 years with a movie premiere at Cathay Cinema

This year is our 30th year operating in the Mid-North area and we celebrated with a movie premiere at Cathay Cinema on Thursday 8th August.

We had a blast! The event was another sell out and we enjoyed catching up with both old and new friends of Hospice. Hearing from Christina Knox, a founding member of Hospice, or Bay Of Islands palliative Care as it was known as in the earlier days. Jenny Coleman, Clinical Manager gave us an update on current patient numbers and how the focus on education is a priority for our service. Education of Advanced care Planning on the wider community, but also education of other health providers is the strategic direction Hospice Mid-Northland will be taking. Belinda Watkins, General Manager talked too about future plans and then we heard from Yvonne Sharp, current chair of the Hospice board, whom thanked previous boards, staff and volunteers.

Thank-you to the amazing supporting businesses who donated a spot prize for the evening - 30 spot prizes for 30 years. We are truly humbled by the kindness and support we receive in this community. Thank-you to cafe Cinema for hosting us and our beautiful Kuia and Kaumata, Hana and Arena Munro for blessing the ceremony.
